Innovative AI Diagnoses Glaucoma with Ease
PuzzleAI, an artificial intelligence and voice recognition solutions company, announced on November 4 that it has completed the world’s first diagnostic solution for glaucoma utilizing generative AI technology.
Glaucoma remains one of the leading causes of blindness in developed countries. Crucial for diagnosis, visual field tests are essential; however, they are often time-consuming, fatigue-inducing, and expensive.
To address these challenges, a collaborative effort between Professor Hwang Woong-joo’s team at Catholic University’s Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital and researchers at PuzzleAI has resulted in a groundbreaking solution. This innovative tool generates visual field test results using fungus examination findings and optical coherence tomography images through generative AI technology and vertical data.
The collaboration has received significant recognition; the research was awarded the Best Scientific Poster Award at the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting in 2024.
The results signify a substantial advancement. The study matched optical coherence tomography images from glaucoma patients with visual field test images, analyzing differences based on the number of training counts and algorithms to generate high-quality visual field results.
The Future of Glaucoma Diagnosis
