Eunpyeong St. Mary’s Hospital Launches AI-Powered Voice Nursing Record System to Enhance Patient Care

Eunpyeong St. Mary’s Hospital’s Innovative Step Forward

Catholic University Eunpyeong St. Mary’s Hospital (Director Kwon Soon-Yong) has pioneered a Voice Electronic Nursing Record (VoiceENR) system, the first of its kind globally. This innovative system allows nurses to document patient care records using voice recognition technology, enhancing both efficiency and accuracy.

On the 12th, the hospital officially presented this groundbreaking technology. The method demonstrated how voice recognition seamlessly integrates with existing hospital systems, showcasing its potential to streamline nursing documentation.

Collaboration and Development

Collaboratively developed over two years, the VoiceENR is the result of partnerships between Eunpyeong St. Mary’s Hospital, Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, and the AI startup PuzzleAI. It boasts a world-class voice recognition rate, significantly improving user convenience in clinical settings.

Traditionally, nurses recorded patient information after care, contributing to extended documentation times and overwhelming workloads. This often led to missed or delayed entries. With the VoiceENR, nurses can now record notes in real-time while attending to their patients. This advancement frees up valuable time, allowing nurses to concentrate more on patient care and communication.

The hospital asserts that the VoiceENR includes state-of-the-art voice recognition software and a comprehensive database of nursing voice data. This ensures remarkable accuracy in various nursing environments. The demonstration showed the system’s capability to recognize speech accurately, even with background noise, successfully converting spoken words into text and sending them directly to the hospital system.

In response to this advancement, Director Kwon Soon-Yong emphasized the importance of AI in healthcare. “I am delighted to see technology that supports healthcare providers while keeping the patient at the center,” he stated. He further committed to developing a medical environment that continuously prioritizes patient satisfaction.
